PARENT SCALES

Heptatonic scales come in sets of seven modes.

One mode per set can be assigned as the "Parent Scale" to aid learning.

8 Parent Scales can be altered - in five simple steps - to generate 36 Parent Scales.

The modes of these 36 Parent Scales produce the 266 heptatonic scales (that don't contain an interval larger than an augmented 2nd - three semitones).
